Shopify sponsorships

From first store to running checkout

Shopify appears in creator reads that range from launching a first idea to fixing a specific checkout problem. The strongest references make the platform part of a real business: Rotten Mango recalls starting an art venture, while Kill Tony and Smosh talk about their own storefronts. That first-hand setup gives Shopify a more convincing role than a broad list of ecommerce features.

Build a pitch around a real idea.

Creative starting points drawn from Shopify’s integrations.

01

Build the first store

Use a creator’s real first-product or small-business story as the opening, then show how a simple storefront takes shape. Rotten Mango’s recollection of launching Grandpa Mango’s Art Studio is a grounded model for the personal starting point.

02

Make checkout the scene

Build a conversational demonstration around the moment a buyer checks out. The two-speaker Kill Tony read makes checkout a specific topic, giving a creator room to explain the customer-facing step rather than recite a platform inventory.

03

Rebrand on camera

Turn a channel-native makeover into a store-design demonstration: change the look, update product descriptions, and let the transformation carry the story. Max Fosh’s royal rebrand provides a concrete structure for that visual pitch.

From first store to running checkout

The brands, creative choices and product connections worth paying attention to.

Show the business behind the platform

The Rotten Mango segment follows a true-crime discussion with a beginner story: the hosts describe launching Grandpa Mango’s Art Studio and position store-building as approachable. fern takes a different route in a video about McDonald’s in Africa, tying Shopify to the channel’s sustainable clothing project and describing how its team uses the platform. Both reads earn the product mention by grounding it in a business the creators actually discuss.

For a pitch, identify the business detail that belongs to the creator. A maker can walk through the first product page; a podcast team can explain what it needed to sell. Avoid borrowing another creator’s founder story.

Make a feature do a job

The Kill Tony read divides the story between speakers: one describes setup, another talks through checkout and saved customer details. SmoshCast uses a playful ‘who is the boss?’ exchange to introduce inventory, marketing and checkout, then ties the service to its own storefront. Those conversational turns keep functional details attached to a scene rather than delivering a detached feature list.

Choose one task the episode can demonstrate, such as organizing products or simplifying a purchase.

Match the transition to the show

Max Fosh turns a fictional royal rebrand into a visible store makeover, asking Sidekick to help make the site feel more regal. PewDiePie’s family announcement, by contrast, shifts naturally to merch because the video itself reveals new products. These are distinct transitions: a comedic transformation and a direct merchandise moment.

A good proposal names the video premise, the bridge into the store-building story, and the one platform task viewers would see. Use an existing creator business only when the creator has actually described it in the source.

KT #776 - BRIAN MOSES + DAVE LANDAU

Kill Tony turns a conversation about owning a storefront into a two-voice Shopify explanation: one host discusses launching the shop, while another points to saved customer details at checkout. The brief exchange adds a concrete buyer-facing feature. A creator can use a co-host’s question to move from setup to the customer experience.

We Play Smash Or Pass | Smosh Mouth 151

SmoshCast jokes about which host is actually the boss, then connects Shopify to the podcast’s storefront, covering inventory, marketing and checkout. The internal debate gives the software read its comic setup. A creator can make ecommerce tools relevant by tracing the tasks that keep their own merch operation moving.

I Tricked Hollywood That I Was A British Royal

Max Fosh adopts a mock royal identity and decides his online shop needs a matching redesign, then demonstrates Shopify Sidekick revising product descriptions. The rebrand gives the AI feature a visible creative assignment. A creator can show a site tool by applying it to a real makeover with a clear before-and-after.
